The Police Foundation’s Seventh Annual “Shop with a Cop” event took place Monday night.

The Rochester Police were the Christmas helpers to over two dozen Rochester children.  The children were given each a $25 gift card to do some Christmas shopping.

“Obviously our whole job is based around service, and we often times don’t get a chance to brighten people’s day — just by the nature of our work, we’re usually called there when there’s problem,” says Justin Collins, director of the Police Activities League. “So this is a chance for us to connect with kids on a whole different level.”

Sergeant Collins says he always gets too many officers asking to help out with the event which is a good problem to have.
