This last Wednesday night at the Air Canada Centre before the  Toronto Raptors vs. Detroit Pistons basketball game, Drake and Raptors President Masai Ujiri held... Drake’s OVO Partners with NBA Toronto Raptors Announce ‘Welcome Toronto’

This last Wednesday night at the Air Canada Centre before the  Toronto Raptors vs. Detroit Pistons basketball game, Drake and Raptors President Masai Ujiri held a press conference in the arena atrium to announce their $2.4M donation to help two basketball initiatives and partnership with Drake’s OVO.

The funds will go to refurbishing a number of local community basketball courts over the next three years and to fund a nonprofit federation Canadian Basketball to develop the sport from the grassroots to pro.

The “Welcome Toronto” project “ will be an immersive brand experience focused on art, community and ball,” according to the franchise, and includes six themed nights per year for the next three years, new OVO-edition uniforms and an OVO-designed black and gold home court —  the charity donation makes it most important to Drake.

The Welcome Toronto OVO-Raptors partnership starts Jan. 26 against the Utah Jazz and Jan. 28 against the L.A. Lakers, for which the Raps are wearing new OVO designed uniforms that will be debut on the home court.
