Carey flips a Bad Boy classic.

Mariah Carey is delivering Caution, her fifteenth studio album, on November 16. Although the veteran R&B powerhouse has already given fans three singles, she’s blessing the world with another track off the project. As soon as “A No No” begins, the first thing that comes to mind is the classic Lil’ Cease, Lil’ Kim, and Notorious BIG single “Crush On You.” Utilizing a sped-up remix of the original instrumental, Carey revisits a familiar topic in her song catalog: getting over a past lover. This anonymous lover has wronged Carey for the last time, and she has no intention of giving him another chance. The catchy chorus is sure to entrench itself in your head for days, but Carey does stumble when she sings, “Irregardless of what transpired.” Using a made-up word, that’s a no no.   — HOT NEW HIP-HOP
