A Rochester doughnut shop is expanding next door and expanding its menu.
In recent weeks, News 8 is told Misfit Doughnuts and Treats on Monroe Avenue has been granted approvals from the city to move ahead with its expansion.
The popular doughnut shop, which offers vegan options, launched a petition in January to get a parking variance approved for the new space. Now, work is moving ahead in full force.
What will the shop offer with the new space?
“Basically, we’ve doubled the size of the space, so we’re going to have twice as many tables, and we are going to be expanding our menu,” said Jennifer Johnson, owner “We are going to offering breakfast, brunch, lunch, soup, salads and we’ll have an expanded drink menu.”
“There really is not a place in Rochester that is a good vegan breakfast spot, so I wanted to offer that to the community,” Johnson further explains.
Customer Joseph Burgess told us what he loves Misfit: “I think the food is incredible and I think especially shows that vegan food can be fantastic… For everyone, I think it’s just really good doughnuts.”
Johnson estimates that the project will be finished in the next few weeks. Johnson added that she wants to thank all of her customers for their support, adding none of this would have been possible without them.
Misfit Doughnuts is located at 982 Monroe Avenue, in a storefront across from Shepard Street.
