POWER HOUR is a new way of networking! This mid-week happy hour event is for local movers and shakers in business, entrepreneurship, education, entertainment and community organizing. Crafted by Publicist Rashad J. Smith, Power Hour is defined as a “movement where bar-hoppers and networking enthusiasts learn how to support local missions all while building and strengthening contacts.” So, if you’re eager to connect and build with area go-getters, here’s your chance!

And like all happy hour events, the monthly social will of course feature food and drink specials. That’s a no-brainer! But what differentiates Power-Hour from the typical happy hour event? The answer is: Rapid Talks!

Each month, local leaders in their respective field will participate in “Rapid Talks” or 2-minute impromptu speeches with a specific call to action aimed to entertain, educate, engage or inspire.

Rapid Talkers will grab the microphone at a random time during the event and in just 120 seconds they’ll pitch an idea and encourage event attendees and bar customers to take some kind of action. As a result, Rapid Talkers leave Power Hour with a list of interested persons ready to support their respective movement.

The first Power Hour event takes place on Wednesday, July 31 at Taste of the Bahamas, located near Ontario Beach Park at 4705 Lake Avenue from 6:30 until 8:30 PM. Access to the event requires a Power Pass which can be obtained at www.eventbrite.com by searching “Power Hour ROC.”

All Power Pass holders will receive 5 rapid tickets for drawings to win local goodies or access to upcoming events sponsored by 1055 The Beat. Power Passes include light refreshments and one free drink ticket for the “Power Toast.” Food and drink specials are not included with the Power Pass.
