Health officials in Ontario County have confirmed the county’s first positive case of COVID-19.
A Victor woman in her 50s has tested positive for the virus, Public Health Director Mary Beer confirmed at a press conference Monday morning.
Beer says the woman is an employee at the Friendly Home, a nursing home on East Avenue in Brighton. She does not provide direct care to residents in the home, Beer said.
The woman recently traveled to Miami, Florida and is isolated at home. She was never hospitalized, according to Beer.
“The individual is doing well. Symptoms are getting better,” Beer said. “She was not hospitalized, although did seek care at a couple of our facilities in the county, and we’ve been in touch with those facilities to make sure that there’re no challenges there.”
The woman and her husband will be in mandatory quarantine for 14 days, according to Beer.
Ontario County is in a state of emergency for 30 days amid coronavirus concerns.
