The Rochester City School Board taught parents how to read the district’s budget Thursday night.
They learned where to find answers to questions like how funding comes into the district, and where it is spent.
This comes at a time when the district is in crisis and working to balance this year’s budget and next.
“Our budget book as you know is like 800 to 900 pages, it’s very easy for anyone to pick it up and get confused or lost when they’re trying to get information, even though it is sectioned off, so we are making changes to the book, just a few changes so parents can find their particular school,” School Board member Beatriz LeBron said.
The budget will be out by March 25.
LeBron hopes with the knowledge they learned, parents will be able to find and understand the impact of any cuts.
